4 years ago on this date, Monday, my brother Izhal texted me on my phone asking when my finals were at 330am. I texted him back saying, later in April. I woke up at 6am to take my shower and ironed my scarf when I got a call from him at about 630am, telling me my cat died. I thought he was messing with me cause I used to mess with him when he was in Hartford. But eventhough I thought he was just playing around, he's not the kind that wakes up early just to play a prank on his sister.

Izhal told me Gebu was in the gutter behind Babah's room, just laying there. A group of stray dogs (freaking fuc*ing dogs) came into the compound and started chasing my cat. I was on the verge of crying when he finally hung up.

I called my mom and asked her if Gebu was really dead. She said "NO!" and she got freaking mad at my brother for making me cry so early in the morning. She knocked on his door real hard while still on the phone with me, and badgered him. He said he was telling the truth and brought my mom to the back, while still on the phone with me. My mom was trying to calm me down cause I was sobbing like crazy but then her silence just hit me harder.

I regret not going home that weekend... I blame my dad for not letting Gebu in the house. I went home that day on the train. Didn't stop crying the whole day..

4 years... I miss her.
