read or read and understand?

one more week to go.. then i'm off to jail :( muahaha.. tsk..

lately, i've been asking a lot of questions pertaining to islam. about angels, satan, why we cant touch dogs, why this, why that.. how come it's this.. how come it's that. usually people associate this curiosity with trying to get away.. or probably that you're nearing death.. as for me, i just wanna know the reasonings to all the things we are supposed to do and where they originate from. i pry for more stories as my friends unfold what they know. i didnt get the chance to go to an islamic school when i was little. and i thought that islamic history during primary and secondary school was too cumbersome. but now, as i and my fellow friends struggle to remember the 10 angel names and what they do... i feel inadequate. i want to expand my knowledge further cause i know i lack of it...

i think the islamic studies in school is eh okay. in malaysia, youngsters are taught to read arabic and eventually the quran. note: READ ARABIC.. not LEARN ARABIC. i enjoy reading the quran but now as i come to think of it, i know nothing of what it says. i just read a bunch of words but i dont know what they mean. (p/s- yeah yeah, i know it's my fault i didnt initiate learning arabic.. ni tengah sedar lah nie!!!!)

my ustaz (teacher), Ustaz Miswan has his beating stick with him to snap at students during the quran recitation. he would listen to our pronounciation. he would have 6 kids surrounding him in a semi circle and read quran at the same time. and then, there would be 20 other kids in the room practicing their own verses. Ustaz Miswan would listen to the 6 kids, simultaneously.. in a way i dont know how.. and correct each of them when there's a mistake. BUT, all the times i've been his student.. i dont know what the words meant...

i dont think parents realize this... they send their children to read the quran with these ustaz just for the sake or reading it. what about really READING it and in hope understanding what it's saying? i have total respect for all my friends who can read and UNDERSTAND arabic now cause they have the privilege to understand the great book.

i want to know the stories.. and i want to know the morals of each stories. i want to be able to tell my non-muslim friends why things the way they are. hehe.. i want to convert them at the same time and marry one or two.. muahaha!! terpesong jap.. but no, really.. i just want to be able to really read it. i dont like people who brag about reading the quran... they just read it.. but not understand it.. some of these people are close to me, so i want to be able to shut their mouth too.. you're not supposed to brag about these things.. it says so in the quran too.. DONT BRAG. so you see, they dont learn anything! sigh

my friend, he said that we read the quran in arabic because it's the most beautiful language in the world and at judgment day, arabic will be used. if our parents and teachers know this, why not make arabic a must-learn subject in school.. urgh!! the ministry of education is so dumb!

before i offend anybody.. i will stop there...

cerita lain: i miss my bunch...

awak ini betul betul ke hendak tulis mengenai islam? kalau mahu suruh orang masuk islam pastikan awak sendiri adalah contoh yang baik untuk mereka. selamat berjaya.
