Halin’s Reunion

So, how long has it been since the Halin Family was housed together under the same roof? Count count count count… hmm, roughly 4 – 5 years. Not long ago, but I sudah lupa how it feels to have two of my brothers around. Now they have wives (sorang satu okay) and they have children of their own. Eww, mybrothers are old! They’re like Mak and Babah now.. soon they’re going to talk and act like Mak and Babah. And then the whole world would be filled with Da. Dr. Sharifah Zaleha and Dr. Abdul Halin. Hmm, muahaha!!

Dr. Abdul Halin bin Hamid, aka Babah, 58 – proud Malay/Jawa son of Sumiah and Hamid aka Abdul Hamid aka Samid aka Matemenawi aka ‘who knows apa lagi nama Tok Hamid’ from Bagan Datoh, Perak. Now a part time lecturer in UPM, teaching Sociology to UPM gangsters so they can act as human beings and won’t harass each other. Babah loves to garden (Amir thot he was our gardener) and his plants grow gloriously. Sayang that he’s not practical at placing his pokok renek, which I love to lenyek. Hehehe…

Da Dr. Sharifah Zaleha al-Sagoff bt Syed Hassan al-Sagoff, aka Mak Dato’, 59 – self proclaimed Arab daughter of Sharifah sumthing (lupa nama nenek) and Syed Hassan, born in Jitra, Kedah. Undeniably known as Radio Bangi by Babah (mak gets pissed off when she’s being turned off by the Astro remote control). A very hardworking woman who LOVES to talk. Self proclaimed cutie (narcissism runs in the family) who enjoys cooking and putting Rizman in a pillow case as well as putting away things in the closet and getting them out again 1 week later.

Dr. Izhal bin Abdul Halin, aka Abang Iz, 31 – first son of Babah and Mak Dato’, now with a PhD. Married to lovely Farawahida Abdul Aziz, 31 with two sons, Faiq and Izz Farish. He likes football or soccer as the dumb Americans would call it. He was the treasurer for Lados FC and actually, that’s the most he has ever been involved with football. His favorite hangout WAS Gerai Adam at Medan Selera Fasa 1 triple B. He takes good care of his car, and he learns well from experience (like not to buy a beat up car and trying to use it). He’s pretty tall and pretty selekeh but he’s my brother, so whatever. Dulu2, his main duty in the family was to worry everybody and later on he was my chauffeur to school. Now he’s a family man so woohoo!

Farawahida bt Abdul Aziz, aka Kak Fara, 31 – used to be compared to the pokok kelapa and pokok pisang in front of our old house dulu2 cause she’s cute (meaning she fits an S everywhere she goes). Very soft spoken and very open! She’s married to Abang Iz and is always so supportive of her husband. She makes a smashing ikan something something and her mom makes CHOCOLATES!

Alfian bin Abdul Halin, aka Pyan, 29 – middle child so yeah, he has that middle child syndrome kot. He’s married to Nor Shazwan, 29 and was given a very cute but bratty little daughter, Farhanah aka Farhantok. Like his brother, he likes football and he actually plays the damn game. Whoa! He was a goalkeeper in his younger years and now, I have no clue. He likes his body, meaning he takes care of it. But he has this sin/cos/tan graph mixed together, which is his body fat. My second brother is a great cook and he takes care of the network problem we have at home aka Streamyx. He looks clean shaven compared to his older brother. Ooh, Pyan has a great voice and Mak Dato’ loves it when he reads the Quran.

Nor Shazwan bt Mohammad (salah eja nie), aka Kak Wan, 29 – Pyan refers to her as Doraemon when they were dating earlier. Kak Wan is super duper creative dude!! She makes so many paper art – cards and hiasan dinding for Pyan when she was in Tulsa. She wears glasses cause she’s smart and is actually smarter than Pyan. She’s also cute (which means hehe, cannot reach rak atas; just like Mak Dato’ and Kak Fara). Pyan is married to an extra supportive and strong-willed woman. Her mom makes SAMBAL GORENG which is like AWESOME!

Tunku Norashikin bt Tunku something, aka Kak Chik, 47 – daughter to Mak Dato’s only sister, our late Bi’ Inn, the most gorgeous woman in my eyes (she’s super duper beautiful). Kak Chik inherits her mother’s look but she’s very conservative and shy shy one. She coordinates her clothes really well. She loves to stay in the house and only goes out when she retrieves the morning paper, throws the garbage and the resturant trips around triple B. She’s my cousin really, but I regard her as my sister. Dare to kacau her, I kill you!

Che Puteh by Syed Hassan, aka Mak Chak aka Tun Teh aka Rokiah, XX (don’t know her real age, she lies about it) – a playa who loves to smoke rolled up ciggies and drinks Coke. Currently suffers from an enormous craving for daun rokok (I am against ciggies) as well as some hearing problems. Her zest for life is as BESAR as a newborn baby’s. She wants to do everything and anything, but kinda held up by her tongkat and lutut. So urm, it’s safe to say she’s 70.. yeah, safe lah. She takes care of the whole Halin family so we love her.

Afiza binti Abdul Halin, aka Iza, 23 – the youngest of them all and probably the cutest and the smartest (narcissism again and this time cute doesn’t mean vertically challenged). Loves Tadika Maria, Kajang and also Rizman Adam b Mohd Yahaya. Currently working in iPerintis at Level 59, Tower 1, KLCC. Enjoys her time being stuck in a jam. Often used at home as the go-to person to microwave food, getting tupperwares or curtains from the cupboards, pengangkat pasu bunga. Has a knack for getting into trouble with everybody in the family. Kinda frustrated with curfews (which at the moment, Iza is treating like ‘What curfews? F**8 that’). Waiting anxiously to meet her only niece and two nephews. Whee! The only fit person in the family who is urging the Babah and the Mak Dato’ to get out of the house and smell the freaking roses!

No 5 Jalan 3/6M - house designer was Mak Dato’. She did an OKAY job lah cause I’d rather have a pool somewhere. Now I want a pool table and she says NO. Like what??? Rather have me in a pool bar is it?? F.I.N.E. Big garden so Babah, the gardener can play. Many of our late cats were buried somewhere. I bet Babah buried more than our cats there. He killed BULAT and buried the cat there, I BET! No 5 has a long driveway which Farhantok loves (so she can fall tergolek2). Our family area will not fit everybody now, SO I bet Mak Dato’ is secretly scheming to extend it. No 5 has 4 bedrooms + 1 master bedroom + 1 extended room for guests (such as brothers who do not know how to move out). Lovely… the house is lovely.

Gebu aka late housecat, died at the age of 14 – Babah killed Gebu.

So that’s the Halins. A bunch of people who make up a family. What’s so special about us? To me, we’re a mix of people… Babah is cute when he tries to be cool (cool means trying to shop for clothes and shoes). Mak Dato’ flares up when she sees things not in place (not in place means the pillows are on the bed, yes, ON the bed). Abang Iz is much calmer than he was (no, he’s not on drugs. He has a family now, that’s his guilty pleasure). Kak Fara is always in her chirpy lovely mood. Pyan has a wide range of interest which all revolves around making money. He’s pretty innovative lah kiranyer. Kak Wan sacrifices her time for her hubbie and daughter. Kak Chik is also calmer and she loves food too. Mak Chak wants live forever and ever! And I am actually their therapist, really I am.

So tra la la.. one thing we have in common. All of us are garang people. Keke..
